Bright spirits, big smiles and the lovely Bannerman park. That is all you’ll need to have a great time at the Newfoundland and Labrador Folk Festival. Celebrating the unique culture of Newfoundland’s Folk scene, this festival weaves together a rich tapestry of various artists and styles. Featuring incredible performances such as Bill and Joel Plaskett, Kaia Kater, The Jerry Cans, and many more.
As well as finding incredibly virtuous musical talent, this event looks to host several interactive workshops, local artists, crafters, and food/drink vendors galore. The Newfoundland & Labrador Folk Arts Society has a knack for bringing out the greatest talent from across Canada to be melded together for this weekend of entertainment.
As the festivities span several days, many attendees will be looking for accommodations. For those of us who love the outdoors, camping and RV lots can be found just a skip away. Here are our suggestions to get the best out of your vacation:
Pippy Park Campground and Trailer Park: Located only 6 minutes away from the venue, campers can experience St. Johns downtown within walking distance. Not only featuring spaces for RVs and tents, Pippy Park offers a massive 27-hole public golf course for all of those who would like to get some club practice while staying for the festival.
Marine Park: Roughly 30 minutes North of where the event will be held, Marine Park has several amenities for the RVer. Even including servicing if you were to need it during your stay. Also Marine Park is home to several Yogi Bear themed activities. Meaning this might be the best destination if you plan on bringing the whole family.
Butter Pot Provincial Park: A bit of a trip South (about a half-hour drive), Butter Pot Provincial Park has some of the best views to be held around. Giving campers access to the beautiful landscapes of Newfoundland, travellers can find activities such as fishing, swimming, and playgrounds. Butter Pot also includes expansive trails to some breath-taking heights.
So make sure to stay the entire weekend to experience what St. John’s has to offer!
We hope to see you at this years Newfoundland & Labrador Folk Festival. It’s a spectacular event you wont want to miss.
