As the COVID-19 pandemic continues, people everywhere are looking for ways to help. Many are sewing masks for healthcare workers and the community while others are 3D printing face shields. Everyone is putting in their best effort to support front-line workers and other individuals impacted by this serious virus — RVers included. Here’s a look at the RV community helping essential workers and many others impacted by the current challenges.

Giving Front-Line Workers a Home Away from Home

As front-line workers care for COVID-19 patients, day in and day out, many choose to stay isolated from their family at home to avoid spreading the virus. They are staying at hotels, setting up camp in the garage, and even sleeping in treehouses. To make their lives a little more comfortable, RV owners are offering up their trailers and motorhomes to healthcare professionals in need of somewhere to stay.

Using the RVezy platform, owners can mark their vehicle as emergency-ready and even waive fees or discount their rate. Many are even going one step further by offering the RVs for free and even travelling great distances to deliver them. Upon realizing healthcare workers’ need for temporary accommodations, RV dealers hopped onboard to participate as well.

Providing Critical Parts and Service to RVers in Need

Popular RV dealers, including Great Canadian RV, Can-Am RV Centre, and Campkin’s RV Centre, are also helping by meeting the critical need for parts and service. When the vehicles need maintenance and repairs, they are there to provide that service and supply all the necessary parts. They keep the vehicles in good working order, ensuring healthcare workers and full-time RVers have somewhere to stay as they self-isolate. With that move, they can keep the RV community helping everyone cope with the current challenges.

Raising Funds for Food Banks Through CanadaHelps

Along with health and housing challenges, COVID-19 comes with an economic impact, resulting in food insecurity across many communities. To help fill the pantries of food banks across the country, we’re looking to do our part to raise funds.

For our customers without an email address on file, for every email address sent our way, we will contribute $1 to the Food Banks Canada’s COVID-19 Response Fund. The money will go towards helping your fellow Canadians stay well nourished during the pandemic.
